Parents and community members are always welcome at St. James. We have the usual events such as award ceremonies, open house, breakfast or lunch with parents and grandparents but, at St. James, we go beyond those ordinary events.  We have reached out and provided clothes, food, homework help, Adult English as a second language classes, health clinics, legal advice, and provided transportation as much as possible. We want the lives of our families to have the kind of  support that will help their homes be places where there is time to nurture the education of their children.

We have community members who have volunteered to provide enrichment for our students and staff development for our teachers. Our Latino community members have volunteered to provide language and cultural training for our staff in order to better serve our population. We have also involved community members to serve as translators.

Our parent organization provides scholarships, funds for educational field trips, and on site educational experiences from groups that visit schools for science and theater opportunities. We have also worked with Otterbein University to enhance student instruction with hands on activities.

We have become a place that parents trust to help with many of their needs. Students will achieve anytime there is a connection between home and school. When students and parents feel that they are safe and secure in our St. James family, success is in their future.
