Drop-Off Policy

Our students may be dropped off at 7:25 am daily. All cars must enter school grounds from Dresden Street, and exit school grounds onto Oakland Park Ave. Please respect our designated spaces for school buses and parents escorting their children to classrooms.

Pick-Up Policy

Our students may be picked up at 2:30 pm daily. All cars must enter school grounds from Oakland Park Ave. on the West side of the school, and exit school grounds onto Oakland Park Ave. on the East side of the school. Whether your child rides the bus or is waiting to be picked up by a parent, all students will be dismissed and escorted outside by faculty members. Furthermore, if there is a change to where your child is to go after school, a written request must be given to the student's teacher.

School Buses

Please note that bus transportation will most likely be provided in the district where your family resides. For questions regarding buses, you may contact your district's transportation department. If your child wishes to go to a friend’s house after school and plans on riding a different district’s bus, this must be verified with the school and both departments.

Closings & Delays

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, St. James the Less will follow weather delay and closing policy of the Columbus City School District. All delays and closings will be announced on the radio and local television stations. For example, if Columbus City Schools announces a morning delay due to snow, or if the district chooses to close altogether, St. James the Less will delay its opening, as well. Because of the poor driving conditions that come with snow and ice, our faculty and staff will not be available to watch over your child if they were to be dropped off in the event of a closing or delay.

Absence & Tardy Policies

If your child is going to be absent from school due to sickness, severe storms, impassable roads or a death in the family, parents should notify the school by phone between the hours of 7:30 am and 9:00 am. Students who arrive later than 8:15 am must be signed in by their parent or legal guardian.
